Speakers: Dr Dimitra Karoulla-Vrikki, Associate Professor, Department of Humanities Dr Constadina Charalambous, Assistant Professor, Department of Education Sciences “The podcast will focus on the basic principles of human language in order to present the discipline of Linguistics. Dr Constantina Charalambous will interview Dr Dimitra Karoulla on Linguistics in an attempt to reveal wrong popular beliefs about Linguistics and the ways Linguistics associates with people’s everyday life. There will be brief references with examples to illustrate subdisciplines of Linguistics such as Morphology, Phonetics, Phonology, Syntax, Semantics, Sociolinguistics, First and Second Language Acquisition, Pragmatics, Language Change and Language Universals. In general the discussion will link Linguistics to society, identity, education, communication, globalisation and other aspects of human life”.
