Description

Today we’re talking about procrastination... or rather... perfectionism. If you’re listening to this podcast, I’m going to assume three things: 1) that you’re creative, 2) you want to be happy and fulfilled in a career that challenges you AND 3) you strive for perfection in the things that challenge you.

When it comes to perfectionism and procrastination, I want to talk about when our perfectionism gets in the way of doing the thing that we love. That’s what the show is about. It’s about doing the things that we love. But sometimes we get in our own way.

5 pretty simple ways to get yourself out of the, “all talk and no action idea” stage of perfectionism.

  1. Have a clear and nonnegotiable deadline. Pick a date. Stick to it. Pressure is good.
  2. Write it down. Pick up a pen. Write. Reflect.
  3. Talk to a friend. Ask a friend what they think. Be open.
  4. When all else fails, force yourself to start. Just do it.
  5. Keep your mind open to the idea that your idea is allowed to change.Sometimes your first idea is not as good as you think. Even good ideas can be bad.
