When I first started the Mindful Miri podcast, I set out to explore being a woman, having a body, and healing our relationship to our bodies.   As I worked with clients individually, I noticed that those who came to me for body issues often had overall difficulty taking great care of themselves.  And most of the requests and feedback I was getting came from educators and caregivers.  Plus, teachers were coming to me for support during my day job,  which inspired me to start focusing on supporting educators and preventing teacher burnout.   Which led me to creating a nonprofit called The Association for the Wellbeing of Educators (AWE).  I thought about starting a podcast just for educators, but I think that all of us need to learn how to take better care of ourselves and I’m still curious about a lot of things outside of the education realm, including science, technology, psychology, art, social justice and DEI, spirituality, fitness, leadership, and personal development.  All that being said, I’m back with a new season of great stories of women who are overcoming adversity, fostering resilience, making an impact (even the tiniest), and celebrating this thing called life from across the globe.  Please send feedback to me and miri@mindfulmiri.com or DM on Instagram @mindful_miriAs always, stay light, healthy, confident, and free..And may you be safe, healthy, happy, peaceful, and loved,Miri xoSupport the showHey, before you leave, if you loved this episode, would you do me a personal favor, an 18-second favor, and share it? What would you tell your younger self?  This question always seems to strike a chord with my guests and give them pause. Wouldn't it have been wonderful to have a cool, wise older woman sherpa you through your career, motherhood, and womanhood instead of floundering alone?  Tyler Skinner is taking the "younger self" question to the next level with The Next Wave: Evoke the Leader Within 2023.Tyler Skinner is the Founder of  @women.making.waves and Connected Communities.   She is also the host of the Mishaps, Magic, & Mayhem Podcast.Tyler is here to make a difference by building a community of passionate highly charged women together to make the biggest waves they can in every aspect of their lives along with uplifting and supporting other women seeking the same. In this episode, we talk about her newest venture: The Next Wave experience was created because we got really sick & tired of hearing powerful, smart, driven women say they don’t feel supported, let alone feel like they’re actually seen. Peggy Olson said, “if you don’t like the conversation, change it.” It's for college-age women (18-25) to be mentored by mentors who are making waves in their own right.   I'm (Miri) going to be a mentor!   It’s time to start a conversation around how we show up as women and retain our feminine power while leading entire companies, movements, and passion projects to success. ‍  ‍Evoke the Leader Within 2023 is designed to help you break into the conversation and share your ideas for innovation. It’s time to share your vision. ‍ It’s time to get innovative and speak up. It’s time to face challenges head-on and have your voice heard. To learn more about mentorship or mentoring, check out: https://www.women-making-waves.com/next-wave#get-involved-buttons Support the showHey, before you leave, if you loved this episode, would you do me a personal favor, an 18-second favor, and share it? This week on the Mindful Miri Podcast, we learn about Holly Beals, mixed media painter, wife, and boy mama of two.  We talk about self-expression through art, motherhood, being a woman, and having faith in a higher power.   Subscribe and listen to the Mindful Miri Podcast wherever you get your podcasts or here: Mindful Miri Podcast (buzzsprout.com).About Holly:After graduating from Chico State with a BA in communications, she worked as a graphic designer for six years. But new adventures were calling and she was blessed with the opportunity to teach conversational English to college students in Tibet.  It was there, one day in her tiny apartment, where she gathered up what I had on hand: scrap paper, Mod Podge and acrylic paint.  She was trying to make it through an emotionally-challenging season and what emerged on canvas from that struggle was beautiful and satisfying. So began her love for mixed media painting. Now, in the midst of yet another great adventure, being a mother to two young boys, she continues my love for mixed media painting and cherish time in the art studio.  She mainly works with acrylics and handmade or scrap paper on wood panel. Texture, layering, unexpected color combinations and capturing the people/places around her are all reoccurring curiosities. Some things she'll never stop believing: “Life has meaning, each person is significant, and The One who made all things is beautiful beyond comprehension.”Connect With Holly BealsHolly Beals - Acrylic Paintings and CollageHolly Beals | Fine Art (@hollybeals) • Instagram photos and videos Support the showHey, before you leave, if you loved this episode, would you do me a personal favor, an 18-second favor, and share it? This week on the show, we take a deep dive with Shelly Tygielski, self-care activist, author, speaker, community organizer, mindfulness teacher.  We covered: returning to meditation (not just during a crisis), getting in your own way, non-profit disruption, bringing human connection back to philanthropy, mutual aid and communities of care.  Full video interview available here: https://youtu.be/SvPi4ssztk4About Shelly...Led a free weekly meditation class that grew from 12 to 15,000 people!Founder, Pandemic of Love, which has 4000 volunteers worldwide and has directly exchanged nearly $100 million in donations and has connected over 3 million people. Pandemic of Love has been featured on over 100 media outlets, including CNN, BBC and The Kelly Clarkson Show. It has enjoyed incredible support from influencers such as Debra Messing, Chelsea Handler, Maria Shriver, Busy Phillips and Kristen Bell.  Shelly was honored by CNN Heroes in 2020.She believes that – in Audre Lorde’s words – “self-care is an act of resistance” unto itself because the only way to make change is to maintain your energy, health and mental wellbeing.Shelly shares her methods of self-care in her book,  “Sit Down To Rise Up: How Radical Self-Care Can Change the World” which was honored as a Gold winner of the Nautilus Book Award and a finalist for the Fall 2021 Big Idea Book Club. Her upcoming book, “How We Ended Racism: Realizing a New Possibility in One Generation,” co-authored by Justin Michael Williams, is due out in October of 2023 from Sounds True.Shelly holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University. This week, we talk about how the outside makes the inside better, naming it to tame and claim it, challenging your inner critic, implant removal, and raising kids that have a healthy self-image with Jeanne Gallagher.Jeanne Gallagher is an Investment Adviser Representative and Registered Representative with GWN Securities Inc.Seaside Solutions: The terms "learning" and "teaching" are interchangeable. My responsibility is to learn about you, our client. Together, we will delve into your goals and dreams and determine your personalized financial path. Your responsibility is to teach me about you. Through this process, we will pause when necessary to discuss financial concepts, building the foundation of Financial Wellness.Discover Rising Tides: Being outside is very important to me. There are many ways to be outside. It can be as simple as sitting in the grass on a warm summer day. Walking barefoot in the grass or on the beach, feeling the sand between your toes. Other times, it is important to be challenged. A heart-pounding, sweaty hike or a paddle “into the wind”. Something to clear the thoughts and cobwebs of the mind.Being a solopreneur, allotting time to be outside can be downright hard. Thoughts creep on “If I am not working, no one is working”.  She knows there are others out there experiencing the same thing.  She feels the need to talk to them, to support them, to acknowledge them, to learn from them. She feels we can all support, acknowledge and learn from each other. That's how the Discover Rising Tides Podcast was born.Follow Jeanne:Seaside Solutions: https://www.seasidesolutions.net/Instagram: @DiscoverRisingTidesYouTube: Discover Rising TidesPodcast Website: https://discoverrisingtides.com Support the showHey, before you leave, if you loved this episode, would you do me a personal favor, an 18-second favor, and share it?
