Experience - That moment that mattersToday we are going to talk about experience. By that, I mean talking about the employee experience and the customer experience and how that supports a strategy. We refer to the steel thread that creates a relationship between the strategy purpose at the top and the strategy on the page we discussed in previous podcasts. Using experience to form ideas and the idea that there is this steel thread that forms a direct relationship between the strategy and frontline operations. Joining me today are Chris Busson and Rob Seddon.
Welcome to episode four of the Intrapreneur Podcast, brought to you by the Stone and Chalk Group.Hi, there. I'm Ben Dunn, and I work in the advisory team at Stone and Chalk. Today I'm here to talk with Stone and Chalk's Chris Busson about competition, specifically why everyone needs competition even if they don't want it, and what to do to properly leverage them. If you want to discuss this further, there are going to be details at the end of the podcast.Today we will ask how this fits into a Strategy on a Page (SOAP).The soap is meant to capture where you play and how you win. So there are the two key facets of the strategy we are going to chat about today;  understanding who your competition is and what they're trying to do. What's different about what they're doing and how are you going to succeed? You can have a purpose, but you need to understand how you are comparing against what's already in the market. What is your differentiator, and will it work?

Executing a Strategy

2022-11-0835:22

Welcome to episode three of The Intrapreneur Podcast. Today, we're going to look at how to execute on a strategy. If you want to reach out and discuss this further, there's going to be details at the end of the podcast. And I'm here to talk with Stone and Chalk's Scott Williams this time, with Chris Busson. And this time, we're talking about turning a strategy into execution. So welcome, Scott and Chris.I was thinking about this this morning, in the way that the strategic consultancies... where their reputation is that they just want to work on the strategy. They don't really want to get involved in the messy execution operational bit. I suspect that's a bit unfair. I think they probably do do a bit more than that these days. But nevertheless, it is the messy bit, right? The cool, intellectual bit is the strategy, and it feels like you're kind of moving levers around and that kind of thing. So there is a sense in which the execution part is the hard work and that getting the strategy straight... yep, big tick... that's what we have to do. But the real work comes when you actually kind of execute. So Chris, why don't we kick off? Can you describe how we do that, how we help organisations to translate their strategy into something that they can actually execute against? How do we do that at Stone and Chalk?Tune in to hear the answers.

To kick off Stone & Chalk’s podcast series on Intrapreneurship, Stone & Chalk’s Ben Dunn sits down with Stone & Chalk Group Executive - Partnerships, Mimi Curran, to lay the groundwork for the series. What do we mean by ‘intrapreneurship’? Why should companies care about intrapreneurs and what can they do to foster and encourage their passion and ideas? In this age of disruption, companies will need all the help they can get to question the assumptions of their sectors in a way that benefits their customers and their shareholders. Ben and Mimi discuss some of the lessons that can be learned from Stone & Chalk’s Advisory Consulting team’s projects, especially around how individuals and teams require guardrails to set them up for success. Innovation needs a structure that helps focus and direct efforts on solving problems and priorities. Successful innovations also require a diversity of approaches. It’s not just about the visionary who comes up with the idea but also the team who successfully executes. Innovation is a team game, and companies require teams of intrapreneurs to capture the value properly. Intrapreneurs can be found at all levels of the organisation. More senior intrapreneurs can help the wider organisation think differently, listening to customers and working with an organisation’s structure and resources to deliver value that may disrupt the norms within their company and industry, but that’s ok.
