Show Notes for Episode 200: Readiness "Heart to Heart" with Remona Allyouneed.Watch it here I have known Remona since 2023 when we met a a job fair. She knew that I didn't belong there, but we locked eyes across the room, and we were destined to meet. Two years later, we have been working together on Sonya Janisse, a Wellness Company, and Remona has learned so much about herself while going on this journey towards happiness. There is magic is learning something new about ourselves, and it has taken many years for Remona to learn how to shed her negative thoughts, energy, and habits from her life. She is a work in progress. If she could give any advice to the audience today, it would be to keep working on yourself. There is no limit to what we can achieve, but if we don't try, we'll never know. Remona has worked through my Design Your Life, Your Way Guidebook, and I am very curious to learn what she gained from those 30 days of soul-searching questions I asked her. She admits that it was a lot of work, and some days might have gotten skipped, but now that she has completed it, how has it changed her life, and what words of wisdom would she offer to someone considering making a change in their life today. Today, for my milestone Episode #200!!!, I would like to welcome my guest, Remona Johnson, who has lived quite the journey as an immigrant from England, via India, growing up in rural Saskatchewan, and learning that small town life isn't so bad, but the city can have its perks, too. She went from high school in Saskatoon to the University of Waterloo, where she developed into a young adult as an electrical engineer. Today, she has moved away from her technical career as she helps me with the administrative side of things,  while she looks for work in the healthcare field as a customer service or patient representative. She has a husband of 11 years and a 10-year-old son, and the past two years have put her on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and reinvention. I have loved getting to know Remona throughout this journey as I have learned so much about her and her family, and what she values most. I look forward to seeing where she is at these days, as we haven't been able to connect much since her busy summer, and we have a special treat for you today because, for my 200th episode, Remona has agreed to go on a live coaching call with me. So let's lean in, cozy up, and get ready to listen to some real-life coaching!Throughout this episode, we unpack: readiness, staying in the past vs forward, the feelings of vulnerability, and what it feels like to "shake off your Spiderweb"At the end of the day, Remona has a goal of feeling like she is on a mountain, "meditating and levitating."Thank you, Remona, for being on our show. And for sharing such an impactful story.xx..Ready to ditch the frustration and step into a life of unstoppable clarity and confidence? Episode Title: Stop Dimming Your Light, How to Brighten Your Light – The ND Edition (Gen X Women)Host: Sonya JanisseDate: Oct 9, 2025Runtime: Approx. 25:00Note: There is about a one to two minute period of silence where my headphones needed to be recharged... just keeping it humanWatch the vidoe clip here https://youtu.be/3diruf9vXkY☕ Episode Summary: Your Light Is Not BrokenAre you a neurodivergent Gen X woman who feels utterly exhausted from constantly "performing normal"? Do you spend more energy masking than actually achieving? This episode is for the high-achieving woman who has spent decades using a dimmer switch on her own brilliance just to fit in.Join host, Sonya Janisse, for a candid, coffee-side chat where we dive into why masking is dimming your potential and, more importantly, we give you three neuro-friendly, practical actions to start turning that light back up—without burning out. Your success doesn't lie in how well you mimic others; it lies in how fully you embrace yourself.💡 Key Takeaways: The Brightness BlueprintWe covered three common traps that lead to dimming and three essential actions to take. The Three Traps of Dimming (The Shadow Work):The Burden of the Mask: The pure exhaustion of constantly performing "normal" for the neurotypical world, draining energy that could be used for brilliance.Fear of Rejection: The generational trauma of being excluded or criticized for being "too much," which keeps us small.Internalized Ableism: The inner critic that tells you your unique wiring is a flaw that needs to be "fixed" before you deserve to shine. The Three Actions to Brighten Your Light (The Switch Flip):Identify Your 10% Unmasking Space: Choose one low-stakes environment (a friend, your home office) where you commit to dropping your mask by just 10% to conserve energy.Systemize the Stuff That Dims You: Externalize the administrative burden (keys, emails, bills) using tools, routines, and tech, freeing your brilliant brain for deep work. Your brain is not a good filing cabinet!Declare Your Needs, Not Your Diagnosis: Advocate for your optimal working conditions by stating the need (e.g., "I need written communication for key items") instead of justifying it with a diagnosis.📢 Call to Action: Unmask 10% This Week!I want to see you shine! This week, choose one element of yourself you usually hide, and commit to unmasking it by 10% in your chosen safe space.Take a screenshot of this episode and share it on Instagram stories.Tell me: Where are you unmasking 10% this week?Use the hashtag #NDBrightLife and tag me @sonyajanisseI'll be sharing my favourite examples and cheering you on!Connect with Sonya JanisseInstagram: @SonyajanisseWebsite: www.sonyajanisse.comEmail:sonyajanisse@gmail.comIf this episode resonated with you, please hit subscribe and leave a five-star rating and review. Show Notes for Episode 198: Not Good EnoughFlipping the Script: Confidence, Anxiety, and Core BeliefsThis week, I had a heartfelt and powerful conversation with the incredible Sabrina Trobak. We dug into a topic that so many of us grapple with: the impact of our deepest core beliefs on our mental and physical well-being.Have you ever felt like you're not good enough, not important, or not valued? Sabrina explains how past trauma can plant these beliefs, which then become the root of so much anxiety, self-doubt, and even anger. To cope, we often turn to unhealthy strategies like suppressing our emotions or staying perpetually busy. This episode really hit home for me, and one of the biggest questions we tackle is: What are you getting out of living in chaos? Sabrina and I explore how a life full of busyness and distraction can become a convenient way to avoid facing what's really going on inside. We also got really real about how weight can sometimes become a shield. We challenged ourselves to ask: Why are you hiding behind your weight? What is the benefit? It’s a powerful question that can lead to some eye-opening insights. My biggest takeaway from this conversation was that anxiety is actually a reflection of what you believe about yourself. If confidence is the sun, then anxiety is the shade.Sabrina beautifully connects our emotions to our biology, explaining how hormones like serotonin and cravings for sugar, fat, and starches all play a role. She gently reminds us that while "simple is not easy," learning to feel your emotions is the first step toward healing.Get ready for an episode full of laughter, deep truths, and a few amazing takeaways you won’t want to miss.Find the episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8S9GQ2UHwbkLet's learn a little about Sabrina.Sabrina Trobak, based in Fort St. John, BC, Canada, is a registered clinical counsellor and the author of "Not Good Enough: Understanding Your Core Belief and Anxiety." Before establishing her private practice, she dedicated over 20 years to education, serving as a teacher, vice principal, and school counsellor across three school divisions. Sabrina has extensive training in addressing past trauma and its effects on daily life, including anxiety and the core belief not good enough, not important, and not valued. We discuss how scented laundry detergents and fabric softeners can saturate our sheets with chemicals that are then absorbed through our skin, entering the bloodstream and affecting internal organs.Erica is the perfect coach to help you find your purpose. She understands your journey because she has walked more than a mile in your shoes.Join us for some laughter and fun as we unpack this amazing episode together!Find the episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8S9GQ2UHwbkRecommendations & ResourcesHere are some helpful resources from Erica, including her book series and a free guide to help you on your journey.Book Series: Infertility Success This series shares stories of help, hope, and faith to support you through your journey.Your Story Matters: a woman's self-love, self-awareness workbook https://a.co/d/ja675wr (((this one is mine, but fitting for healing)))Infertility Success, Stories of Help and Hope for Your Journey https://www.amazon.com/Infertility-Success-Stories-Help-Journey-ebook/dp/B09LTF9TLCInfertility Success, MORE Stories of Help and Hope for Your Journey https://www.amazon.com/Infertility-Success-MORE-Stories-Journey/dp/1737552221Infertility Success to Postpartum Mess https://www.amazon.com/Infertility-Success-Postpartum-Mess-Truth/dp/1737552248Infertility Success, Stories of Faith and Miracles https://www.amazon.com/Infertility-Success-Stories-Faith-Miracles/dp/1737552264Free GuideUnexplained Infertility Breakthrough: 5 Overlooked Keys to Help You Conceive Faster https://ericahoke.com/page/causes-of-unexplained-infertilityLet's learn a little about Erica. At 35, Erica made a powerful decision to reject the all-or-nothing scenarios often imposed on those facing fertility challenges. Instead of solely relying on her medical team, who told her I had less than a 1% chance of getting pregnant, She took control of the factors within her reach, believing that her body was not broken. She actively participated in her healthcare journey, delving into her medical testing, improving her diet, and seeking mental and physical healing opportunities. The incredible results spoke for themselves: not only did she successfully conceive once, but went on to become pregnant three more times. Incredibly all without the help of reproductive medicine. In fact,  She conceived my last son 7 years after being told she would need donor eggs. She believes the most exciting part is this approach isn't unique to her. By addressing root causes and embracing holistic healing, thousands of women have experienced transformative outcomes. Now, she dedicates herself to supporting women who are navigating their own fertility challenges. Through private coaching and the NurturePath Fertility Solution program, She provides resources, guidance, and encouragement to aid women in reclaiming control over their fertility health. Her coaching sessions are designed to empower women with the knowledge and tools they need to take an active role in their healthcare. Furthermore, she shares my story in my best-selling Infertility Success Series, hoping to inspire and reassure others that they aren't alone in their journey. She firmly believes that every woman's body holds an inherent wisdom and strength to heal. Thank you, Erica, for being on our show. And for sharing such an impactful story.xx..Ready to ditch the frustration and step into a life of unstoppable clarity and confidence? As neurodivergent, hormonal Gen X women, our lives are a glorious, chaotic testament to the phrase, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” So, why even try to plan, right? We're diving into the art of low-effort preparedness, where a forgotten snack in your car is a mobile survival kit and a stash of emergency chocolate is a vital piece of crisis management. We’ll talk about how readiness isn't about having a color-coded binder; it's about building a little bit of wiggle room into our beautifully chaotic lives.Join us as we redefine what it means to be ready and share our ridiculously small victories.Don’t forget to do your one small, ridiculous act of preparedness this week, snap a picture, and tag us!Soul Coaching, by Sonyawww.sonyajanisse.com#SlightlyUnhingedAndFullyUnprepared #asksonya #afreshapproach #sonyajanisse #NeurodivergentAndReadyish #GenXPreparedness #EmergencyChocolate #IfYouWannaMakeGodLaugh #ChaoticGood #SurvivalSock #ADHDLife #StThomasOntario #UnpreparedButReady
Podcast Episode 195_ When Hormones & Neurodivergence Collide Why Your Coping Mechanisms Are Failing. You're a GenX woman who has spent decades building a toolbox of strategies to manage your neurodivergence. But lately, things feel… different. The brain fog is thicker, the sensory overwhelm is more intense, and your usual coping mechanisms just aren't working. It’s not just you.For neurodivergent women in perimenopause, hormonal fluctuations can feel like a perfect storm. Estrogen and progesterone shifts can directly impact dopamine and serotonin, often exacerbating symptoms like executive dysfunction, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. The tools that once served you so well may suddenly feel useless.Today, let's talk about why it's not a personal failure, but a biological reality—and why a holistic, compassionate approach is more important than ever.Does this sound familiar? George Sheehan, the running guru, describes four roles: being a good animal (physical), a good craftsman (mental), a good friend (social), and a saint (spiritual). Sound motivation and organization theory embrace these four dimensions or motivations -- the economic (physical); how people are treated (social); how people are developed and used (mental); and the service, the job, the contribution the organization gives (spiritual)."Sharpen the Saw" basically means expressing all four motivations. In today's episode, we are talking about the work from home flow.  I share the details of my daily routine, the power of clothes, and why flow is so important to me, As tempting as it is to stay swaddled in a robe from your morning coffee all the way to wine o’clock, putting an outfit together is good for mental health, and fashion brands have leaned heavily into loungewear to meet homebound consumers where they’re at. Stretchy bottoms, plush sweatshirts, and fuzzy slippers PLUS  a pop of color and mood-boosting items that bring lightheartedness to a period in time that’s felt anything but breezy. Here are a few takeaway tips. Have a routine. Communicate expectations with anyone who will be home with you. Take clear breaks. Interact with other humans. Get outside Prepare meals the night before. Pick a definitive finish time. Eat and sleep. Talk to your employer. Join a remote-friendly company. Start a career as a freelancer. Start a home business. https://linktr.ee/sonyajanisse

This “Creating and Maintaining Motivation”  tackles the core of many people’s weight loss challenges – how to get started, stay the course and not give up! Anyone can feel motivated for a few days or weeks, but how do you create an environment where you’re motivated to go the distance? Most of us have more than a few pounds to lose and that requires ongoing motivation and encouragement. Fortunately, motivation is something we CREATE let me tell you how. It starts with one foot in front of the other. Because,  'When you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them” Sonya@freshapproachfitness.ca  https://linktr.ee/sonyajanisse

Often when we're looking for change, it's not the choices that we make, but the story and the drama that creates the problems. Loving your body during your weight loss journey is key to success.  Here is how to dress when losing weight. Too often, women run away from stylish outfits because they are waiting to reach their weight goal.   I’ve had so many women tell me that they’ll only do my style course when they’ve lost some weight and I always tell them that the right time to start it is right now.   You should NEVER wait   Learning how to style yourself and feel better in your clothes.   You will just feel so much better!   As you lose weight, clothing does not fit the same anymore and a resistance to either buying new pieces or tweaking your current wardrobe develops.   You want to wait until you’ve lost the weight.   The problem is that, as you get fewer and fewer options from your wardrobe, you start to feel worse about your appearance, which will lead to more emotional eating, which can jeopardise your weight loss journey It’s Even More Important To Dress Well When Losing Weight By spending time dressin

Here's what busy but balanced means to me   Stepping away from the stereotypical limited mindset, limited money, limited mobility... Busy but Balanced is about living bits and pieces of your dream life today and not just working on creating that dream life that you're looking forward to living one day. The best way to do that is by creating passive and residual income and by keeping up vs catching up. sonya@freshapproachfitness.ca #asksonya Www.freshapproachfitness.ca

Do you ever feel like you’re on the ‘Hard Road’, and that maybe life is harder than it should be? Each time you make changes, it’s so hard to progress (even just a little). It always feels like an uphill battle, and often as though life is out to get you… What if I told you there was another way, and that YOU get to choose to take the Hard Road or the easier one, called "Growth Unexpected." Because the reality is, it is your choice. You get to choose, and you always have had this choice. In today’s episode I talk about the 9 Hallmarks of the Hard Road, and the alternatives you can choose to take to enjoy the easier one: the road where you do progress, you do win and you do grow.   Helping you achieve time freedom, balanced energy, and elevated finances. Every moment we are conscious, we are creating. Whether we accept it or not, we are always co-creating with the Universe. Our beliefs, attitudes, the actions we take, the lens through which we look at life—it is all part of the creation process.  Shaped by my personal experiences and extensive research on manifesting, I was able to put together ten ideas that can help speed up your manifesting process. Plant these ideas in your mind and let them grow into giant trees of consciousness. Here we go! 1. Give yourself permission to want what you want 2. Be really willing to receive. 3. Be willing to doubt your doubts. 4. Pick and choose who you share your dreams with. 5. Do your best to keep your vibration up. 6. Take inspired action. 7. Strive to rise above jealousy. 8. Use a mantra to deal with your current less-than-ideal situation. 9. Trust your soul’s path. 10. Do your inner work. www.freshapproachfitness.ca/asksonya
