On this week’s episode we have a special guest all the way from the US Christine Byrne, an anti-diet dietitian that helps clients struggling with Orthorexia and other eating disorders. We have brought Christine in to discuss how clean eating can undermine eating disorder recovery and the link between Orthorexia. Although healthy eating is seen very differently for many individuals and has a different meaning to everyone, Christine touches on how it can be viewed as a snow ball effect and down a spiral when having a strong unhealthy focus on ‘healthy’ eating and fear foods. On this week's episode we speak with clinical psychotherapist Jacqueline Byrne. On this week's episode we have an eating disorder recovery talk with recovery champion Ash. Ash is currently an art director that works in advertising and an ambassador for InsideOut supporting and inspiring others towards recovery themselves. Ash began to realise something was not right in November 2011 where she had initially begun a health kick where it had gotten to the point of starting to fear certain foods. Although Ash experienced eating disorder symptoms, she was not diagnosed until it all came to a head in 2013 where she became very unwell. On this week's episode we have a guest all the way from the US, Carolyn Costin. Carolyn has over 30 years experience in the eating disorder field where she had founded an intensive outpatient program for eating disorder treatment and has now opened The Carolyn Costin Institute which providers Eating Disorder Coach Tarining, a Mentor program, Continuing Education for clinicians as well as other specialised training. In this episode we talk about what is healthy eating and what it means to different people, especially individuals recovering from an eating disorder. We also touch on why individuals with eating disorders have certain fear foods, how they are able to overcome these challenges and the importance of individualised treatment. In this week’s episode we speak with women’s health exercise physiologist Courtenay Polock on disordered eating on pelvic floor health. We touch on the important pelvic floor has on many aspects of our body and the relationship between over exercising and disordered eating can have on your pelvic floor. On this week’s episode we have a recovery talk with recovery champion, Korey. Korey is a non-diet Accredited Practicing Dietitian based in Melbourne that focuses on nutrition for every body and is a health at every size advocate. Korey’s eating disorder journey started in her late teens around 15-16 years of age when she decided to act upon her poor body image by attempting to change her body. Korey grew up in a larger body compared to others in her year group, mostly by being much taller than other girls, and often felt self conscious. This had grown into strong body dissatisfaction that had built up over time and eventually led to her making active changes to her eating habits. Feel inspired towards recovery and tune in! In this week’s episode we have a eating disorder recovery talk with Joanna. Joanna is a 29 year old physiotherapist who suffered from an eating disorder as a teen. She had first started showing symptoms of an eating disorder when she was at the age of 15 where she began to develop body image concerns growing up with her love for dance where she began to feel anxious about her peers who were starting to lose weight for the sport.
