It sometimes feels like women have to choose between a lean physique and a social life, or a lean physique and safe mental health, or a disciplined lifestyle and the ability to "let loose". Is it possible to have it all, and not have to choose?Health coach and Nutritionist @Hannahbaillieee joined me to give us insight on how she helps women reach their body composition goals while maintaining balanced (and ultimately, happy) lifestyles. We touch on common goals that clients have and how those evolve as the journeys progress. Hannah speaks to which factors help women be successful in creating healthy habits, common challenges that women face and how they overcome those challenges.
While there’s nothing better than sitting down after a long day to binge reality TV with snacks, snack attacks usually leave us feeling physically and/or emotionally uncomfortable. Back by popular demand, Holistic Nutritionist @frannyseale and I chat about why it’s common for us to go into an all-or-nothing trans.  Here are 3 common reasons: (1) Not eating enough through the day. (2) You’re mentally or physically (or both) restricting yourself. (3) It becomes an emotional habit.Check out the ebook online! findyournewnormal.ca
There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.”Motherhood is said to be where all love begins and ends. The idea of carrying an infant and raising a human is overwhelmingly beautiful and frightening all at once.  To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, I had the pleasure of speaking with  @themamacoach.alexsearle, who aids new moms with the transition into parenthood. I also spoke with some inspiring moms in my life.  We get to hear from moms - both new and experienced - about what surprised them most, the hardest transition, their favorite part of being a mom, and their advice to new moms out there.
Fitness Coach Emma Bissonnette joins me this week to discuss women’s health and why weight training is essential for our well-being. But that’s so much easier said than done… Throughout the episode, we touch on the importance of dropping the word “just”... It implies action is easy or intuitive. You’ve likely heard people in the fitness industry say “just get started” or “just cut out sugar, processed foods, etc.”We talk about some of the factors inhibiting behaviour change when it comes to movement and her experience in training people - from everyday people to professional athletes - and the one thing every client has in common. We touch on (some of) the many benefits of weight training; from increased metabolic efficiency to depression management to avoiding chronic disease.
Fueling our bodies starts off as instinctual when we’re born. Then, somewhere along the way, it gets complicated, layered, and tricky. It becomes about way more than the food in front of us. According to a U.S. study, 60% of girls, of average weight, between the ages of 12 and 18 years old are actively trying to shed body fat.In this week’s episode, I sit down with registered dietician and psychotherapy student, Joelle,  to define eating disorders vs. disordered eating. We talk about identifying unhealthy behaviors within ourselves and others. We talk about how pop culture & social media skew our perceptions of ourselves, others and what’s truly important when it comes to optimal health.Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this powerful and insightful episode.Resources: https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.orghttps://nedic.cahttps://ontario.cmha.ca/documents/understanding-and-finding-help-for-eating-disorders/
Pelvic floor is the unsung hero! On this week's episode, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Alexis Dugas, and I share a super fun & educational conversation. Here’s (a fraction of) what you need to know: It’s not “normal” to leak in your panties! Improved pelvic floor health can lead to less frequent incontinence. When it comes to intercourse, leave discomfort at the door. Better pelvic floor health leads to better sex. Constipation can be quite uncomfortable and totally inconvenient. Pelvic floor physio can help get 💩 going!@vibrancyphysio has much to share. It’s not you, or me… It’s complicated. Nutrition & MindsetFranny Seale (AKA Frantastic), Nutrition and Accountability coach, and I sat down with the intention to talk about building nutrition goals, gut health, etc. Our conversation quickly became so much bigger than that. We get into the importance of gaining control of your mindset, taking back control, and reducing external influences, to begin nurturing a healthier relationship between ourselves and the food that keeps us alive. These are only some of the tools that will ultimately lead us to optimal living.
