April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To be perfectly clear, sexual assault is equally devastating to men and women, can and does happen to both. However, being that this experience disproportionately affects women, it’s very important to me to discuss it here. Contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of sexual assaults are not perpetrated by strangers. So today, we will be discussing the importance of fostering a culture of consent in your most intimate relationship-marriage, emphasizing empathy, communication, and understanding to create safe and enthusiastically consensual intimate spaces. This is “Building Consent Culture in Marriage” on the F is for Female Podcast. If you need help now, call 1.800.656.HOPE (4673) to be connected with a trained staff member from a sexual assault service provider in your area. Calling the National Sexual Assault Hotline available 24 hours a day, gives you access to a range of free services including: * Confidential support from a trained staff member * Support finding a local health facility that is trained to care for survivors of sexual assault and offers services like sexual assault forensic exams * Someone to help you talk through what happened * Local resources that can assist with your next steps toward healing and recovery * Referrals for long term support in your area * Information about the laws in your community * Basic information about medical concerns If you would like additional coaching in the area of building enthusiastic consent in your marriage bed, one on one coaching opportunities are available to sort through your individual needs and navigate your specific journey with support, guidance and practical exercises to help you. If you have the incredible privilege of being a mother, you know that almost immediately you're in danger of building resentment. Because somehow, in all of the beauty and fantasy and fairytale of motherhood, you didn't get the whole picture. There's no way to include it all for you. Not even your own mother could prepare you fully for the job of motherhood. It is beautiful. There are moments of brokenness. It tests you, it unravels you, it shapes you and changes you. Because this danger exists, today we're going to talk about four principles to preventing that resentment in motherhood. Saved or Sexual?

Saved or Sexual?

2023-05-1123:01

1: Saved or Sexual? Brace yourself because I’m stepping on my soapbox… This is the question so many of my clients, followers and friends wrestle with, and it’s a large portion of my why, for getting behind the camera, for stepping on platforms…to explain and dispel the myths surrounding this very message. So what better ground to sow on than starting here for episode one of the Femology podcast. Are you saved? Or are you sexual? I could give you the short answer…it’s both. Yes! BOTH! But you’re not here for the short answer. You’re here for the breakdown, so let’s get to it.  We started to and will continue to speak extensively on this podcast about the importance of knowing yourself intimately if you are to approach your most valuable relationships with the kind of vulnerability they require to be fruitful and rich like you ultimately want them to be.  So we have to begin by sorting out the intricacies of what we are made of and removing any faulty information or flat out lies from our inner dialogue.  We see this in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT which says “Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.” 🔵Our bodies were created with meticulous detail. Among other wondrous design elements, we also have specific anatomical and biological responses to desire, arousal and pleasure. To acknowledge that God created our bodies but neglect or ignore the aspects of this body that were intentionally made to experience satisfaction through any number of body parts and sensations is to deny the mastery of a purposeful Creator. We have been gifted with sensuality in our bodies. The ability to experience the world around us and express the world within us through our senses.  Now, arguably neither of these is more important than the other in that We must honor God with all three!  We honor Him with our spirit, the posture or the reverence with which we approach Him as God and have a relationship with Him.  We honor him with our soul by our choices, submitting our will and every rollercoaster of emotions to Him and by our creative expressions of worship.  AND we honor Him with our stewardship and care of our physical bodies in relationship to ourselves like how we nurture our health by what we taste or eat or what we see or look at… But also in the care of our physical bodies in relationship to others, which includes our sexuality.  In Ephesians, Scripture talks about the great mystery of joining together as one in marriage and becoming one flesh. It is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.  Scripture also gives us a peek into Solomon and the Shulamite woman’s intimate and poetic marriage bed in Song of Songs.  But the Bible also includes stories about brutal rape and abuse of power, along with the consequences and repercussions that come with it.  Basically, the Bible is not shy about presenting both the beauty and the corruption in sexual experiences. So Why should we be shy about it?  You are a sexual being even before you are sexually active and that’s an important distinction to acknowledge. So are you saved or sexual? Honey, You are both!  If you are listening to this and you need help reconciling with your sensuality and your physical body, I am happy to help walk you through the FEM Experience. If you are sorting through beliefs about your sexuality that are having significant impacts on your life or relationships, I invite you to seek professional help to finally mend some of the misconceptions or possible traumas that could be informing the way you are living your life. If you found this episode interesting, informational or enlightening in any way, please take just a few moments to leave a review. It has a tremendous impact on the future of the podcast. And if you don’t want to miss more of these conversations, be sure to subscribe.  Until next time
