My episodes are in hopes to help others to learn more about themselves in order to live a more joyful and joy-filled life. For example, I found out recently that I'm an introvert and that I have ADHD. Everything makes sense as to why I do what I do! And why I'm absolutely depleted at the end of some days. What I didn't know was hurting me. This unknowing led me to many toxic "why am I like this?" thoughts which led to many bouts of depression. Dr. Maya Angelou's favorite quote of mine "When you know better, you do better".

Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening (and reading!)I was almost gonna call this episode 'Anxiety is the Opposite of Being Present" but (and I should have stated) that in my personal opinion, yes anxiety IS the opposite of being present, but it may not be true to or for everybody. This episode comes from one of my recent mornings (which happen pretty often) where I'll get anxiety for either what I've done in the past (that I didn't like) or for what I think will happen in the future. I'll get all up in my head, overthink and sometimes start to think of the worst things to myself and all of this causes anxiety. Some of my thoughts can range from "why on earth did you do this or that?" and " "you suck!".And more times than not, it will be in the middle of the night and (if I overthink), I cannot get back to sleep which makes it worse because I'm one of those people that NEEDS my sleep because when I don't get enough of it it's just a 'downward spiral' of thoughts all day long and sometimes leads to depression and poor mental health. Going back to when I was having these thoughts. I started to go down the negative rabbit hole (as I call it), when I caught myself and thought, "how do I feel right now?". I actually felt pretty good, I could tell it was gonna be a beautiful day, I have my health, I'm comfortable, I have a place to stay at and (room and shelter). And I was basically present. My anxiety quickly fell to the side, and I was able to salvage a little more sleep so that I was well rested and could start the day off to a great start. It reminded me of that saying I love so much "The past is history. Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening (and reading!)I'm going back to basics. What does this mean exactly?Well, it comes from the term "niche down".As a multi-passionate, a neurodivergent (I have an adhd brain) and a Manifesting-Generator in Human Design, niching down just never sat right with me.Even then I went ahead and niched down to what I thought I could niche down to even though it never resonated.And that 'niche' was that 'I help high achieving introverts, empaths and highly sensitive people to go from selfless to self-love and from depleted to dynamic to live more joy-filled lives'.It took me years to figure out this 'title' and then more years to implement it on my website, etc which I just literally finished days ago.And as fate would have it, as soon as I 'niched' into this title, my instincts said..."oh, hell no!".It all hit the fan when I listened to a Tracy Matthews 'Creatives Rule the World' podcast episode and she interviewed Sue Bryce.Sue Bryce, at the beginning of the interview talks about how you can tell if someone loves their brand or not by asking them the question, "Do you love your brand?".I thought to myself (in real time)..."no, I don't"..."I like my brand, but I don't love it".I quickly started to go towards thinking about what I do love which is podcasting (which incorporates all of my zones of genius which are; 'connecting with others', 'encouraging others' and 'sharing information with others'.Long story short, I'm on a path to creating offers and a brand and business that align with all that lights me up!I've started to create an offer 'Connecting Through Podcasting' and an offer that leads into that titled 'Simple Podcasting: Done Not Perfect'.I'm eager to share all of my tips and tricks that I've cultivated over the years as a solo and 'DIY' podcaster and all that I *don't do to have had a consistent podcast for 4 years and counting.**I'll go more into this story on my newsletter >> subscribe to get the full story here.I hope you enjoy this episode.Sincerely,Elizabeth🎉Try Hello Audio for Free(This is an affiliate link, if you purchase, after the 7-day free trial, I may get a commission at no charge to you.)🏃🏽♀️Get My Making Things Easier + a Grab & Go Morning Tips printable💌Join My VIP List🎧Freebie! Her podcast is called 'The Art of Being Enough' - I highly recommend it!I thought I have got to make a podcast episode about this, this is so good and resonates so much with me right now.Isn't this the truth though?We all care so much about what others think when 'no one can live our lives for us'. Hello lovelies!"Don't give away your power". Did you know that the only way that others can take power away from us is if we 'give' our power to them? It's amazing to me the power that I give to others when I realize, "wait, I'm giving them power over me and it's up to me to take it back'. Think about this for a second. Think about all of the times where you've felt powerless and like you couldn't do anything, and you just had to 'deal' with the situation.The times when someone was treating you as "less than" or talked over you or around you or just had a bad attitude against you for no reason. They have zero power over us if we don't 'give' our power to them.What does this mean exactly?When someone is ignoring you or treating you as "less than", you can let it fall to the side and basically keep doing you.In other words, you don't let their 'attitude' affect you in any way, shape or form. This takes away their power and they have no power over you from that point on. It's kind of like a magic trick. Hello lovelies! Thanks for listening (and reading!)I shortened the original title of this which was "it's not that they think that you can't, it's because they know that you can!". I got this idea because in some recent situations and recent jobs, I kept getting a lot of 'pushback' and vitriol and haters for no good reason.I always go out of my way to be respectful and kind. And I'm always professional.Due to this vitriol, it made me think..."is it because they think that I'm stupid?" or "do they think that I'm dumb?" And "why are they talking to me so disrespectfully?" "I'd never talk to them the way they're talking to me.".It's a form (it's always a form) of disrespect, suppression and oppression (with underlying racism and/or sexism).When I realized "Oh! It's not because they think that I can't do the job or do "xyz", it's because they know that I can".Because there is no call for it (no reason for it). No reason for any of this vitriol. SMH.If you ever second guess yourself and think "Oh no, they think that I'm stupid or incompetent or dumb!".They don't.It's not because they think you can't, it's because they know that you can and are completely capable and they're (for lack of a better word), hating on you because of this.Also, they want to feel like they're better than you and smarter than you which is where the pushback and suppression comes from. Being an introvert and a highly sensitive person and an empath, I'm automatically a "sponge" to the energies of others around me and I have to remember to do the following so that I don't start going down a negative spiral:1. To catch it2. Remember that "what they think of me is none of my business" ...the great quote from LL Cool J.3. If they don't appreciate me and what I bring to the table, that's 'their' problem and 'their' issue, not mine.4. To keep shining my light! 5. Hold my head up high6. Remember how wonderful I am and...7. It’s tough as heck sometimes isn’t it? We don’t wanna be seen as ‘mean’ or ‘rude’ or ‘selfish’ for goodness sakes. We don’t wanna be seen as excluding others either but when you think about it we’re actually excluding ourselves. The Tonya Dalton quote “when you say yes to someone else, you say ‘no’ to yourself”. This is so true. So a good giveaway to see if you’re feeling disingenuous is if you’re in fact you’re saying no to yourself and if the answer is yes then you gotta reevaluate what you’re doing because ‘self-care is not self-ish’. Or Zones of Genius plural? This term came from the book 'The Big Leap' by Gay Hendricks. Some say it's our purpose and some even say it's our 'superpower'.The best way for me to describe it is that our Zones of Genius are our traits or things that we're naturally good at (it comes easy for us) and it's things or actions that energize us altogether.So for example, I'm good at planning gatherings but I don't absolutely love the tasks that go into it. This isn't my Zone of Genius because I don't love to do it and I don't feel that it's my purpose. Another way to figure this out is if you don't do any of your Zones of Genius, you feel 'empty' or 'off' or even 'down'.If I don't do at least one of the below every so often I won't feel good and I'll be down and out. I've discovered that my Zones of Genius are (in no particular order): 1. Connecting with others2. Encouraging and Motivating others3. Sharing information with othersIt took the most of my life to figure out what they were. I didn't know before this. Self-awareness is a part of self-love. Do you know what your Zone of Genius is or are? If the answer is no, I encourage you to take some time and to do a brain dump and write down what you absolutely love doing as well as what you're naturally good at. Something that comes easy for you that people always say..."you're really good at this!" or "How did you do this so effortlessly?". Remember it also has to be things that you absolutely love doing, too! It's interesting how we are taught and "groomed" (especially women) to look 'outward' for advice and to ask, ask, ask. And to not ever look inward and to follow our instincts and what our intuition is telling us. I'm not speaking about anything that's harming someone else...I have too much empathy for that and I would never preach that.This is for the sole reason of us following our intuition in life and that that is enough. We don't need to ask for permission or to ask for advice or to look outward. It's all within us and isn't it interesting that that's when we seek advice the most? If someone asks you "why are you doing this or that?" or "how come?" you can steal this answer from me which is..."Because I'm following my instincts" and if they keep asking you can follow-up with "My instincts are just that, they're mine and they won't make sense to you"....just like your instincts are yours and they won't make sense to me either". It was freedom from Britain on July 4, 1776. In 2022 with the overturning of Roe v Wade and many rights being restricted, it's making me question Independence Day.Women's bodies are governed by their state with the overturning of Roe v Wade, and it really wasn't that long ago that women (white women) could vote. It was only in 1920 in fact. I was listening to a podcast recently and they were mentioning that that isn't all that long ago.And if you're a person of color it was only since 1965 that you could vote...even more recent...less than 60 years! And I also mention more about the day when I was being really hard on myself which made me have a "breakdown" and how I discovered podcasts. That day I took a walk and I found Julie Bjelland's, "The HSP Podcast", clicked on an episode and she talks about how being hard on yourself as an HSP is the absolute worst thing HSP's can do to ourselves! I had always been hard on myself since I could remember!It was a "light bulb" moment and the first of many for me in self-awareness and self-discovery journey.I also speak about being a caretaker for 14 years, which is why I never got a chance to 'learn' about my traits until the pandemic in 2020!All in all, I speak about my Self-Awareness and Self-Discovery of my characteristics and traits with being an Introvert and an HSP. And how only now with me learning more about myself can I really 'do better' and help myself. Like the Maya Angelou quote, "When you know better, you do better". For me my inner child goes hand in hand 🤝with my gut instincts and my heart and it feels easy and “cozy” and all the good feels. Long story short is that I was having anxiety for not accomplishing all or most of my to-do’s. 📝 When I listened to my inner child it said “it’s okay”, “it’s not the end of the world” and “what’s the alternative?”. With these thoughts my heart rate went back to normal, my anxiety went away and I was able to go back to sleep for the rest of the night. 🥱What are we sacrificing for ignoring our inner child? And is it worth it?
