31. Healing From a Perverted History - Undefiled Book Chapter 13 Review by David Grams
In this episode, David Grams address those who need answers for their marriage, even though they may feel like they're relationship is one-sided -- that they're doing all the giving and their spouse is only taking. Is there still hope in a one-sided relationship? Can God still use a marriage that's broken or struggling? Absolutely! Listen to this episode to learn why and how!
This episode isn't what you typically hear when it comes to relationship advice, but it's deeply biblical. In this episode, David Grams invites the dating or married person to ask themselves why they should choose to stay devoted to a person. It isn't ultimately about your partner, your kids, your reputation, or anything similar. It's more about the call of God on your life. If you don't know it, you'll have problems in the future!
In this episode, learn that when Jesus told us to love each other like He loved us, He was implying that we'd be able to do so, by the power of the Spirit living in us. It's time to start believing what the Bible says about us! Also, what must someone do in a relationship where there's little or no compatibility? Answer this: "When Jesus came into the world, were He and the world compatible? And yet, didn't the relationship work out ok?"
In this episode, David Grams addresses the subject of lust, as to redefine it biblically. Lust, in the original Greek, means "covetousness." To covet someone who is not your spouse...that's lust. However, because it's common for religious folk to condemn sexuality in general, it's also common for people to associate their sexuality with lust, which is only destructive. Recognizing beauty in people is not sin. Purity is not frantically turning away from what you fear will tempt you. Purity is seeing/looking boldly with the eyes of God. This episode will help fortify your heart with the insight you need to walk confidently in sexual purity that's biblical, but not religious or legalistic!
In this episode, David & Allie Grams, plus their friend, Amy, discuss the power that sex has to draw a husband closer to the Lord. Sex is predominantly and profoundly spiritual. And when a wife pursues her husband sexually, she is demonstrating love and honor to her husband that cannot fail to move the husband with godly fear. There are spiritual things conceived in sexual intimacy that have the power to change nations! Listen to this discussion to learn why!
In this episode, David Grams explains one reason why god created Adam before Eve, instead of together, and why woman's creation was for a purpose often overlooked. Wives have a critically important part to play the revelation of Christ to the world, through marriage, and submission is part of it. First of all, the Bible calls us to mutual submission, motivated by the fear of God, not the fear of man. When a woman fears God, she will honor and submit to her husband, and through love, she will draw her husband closer to the heart of the Father.
In this episode, David Grams teaches from Genesis 1, where we read the purpose for which marriage was instituted. Marriage is about two people working together to accomplish a purpose; it's not about two people making each other their purpose. If you live for your marriage, you will be disillusioned. If you live to lay your life down for the cause of the gospel, your marriage will thrive. There's a reason why couples fight and bicker, and the reason isn't about personality differences or disagreements. People who are aimless will find themselves disconcerted and irritable. Why? God created us to conquer. If we aren't conquering the devil, we will try to conquer each other!
In this episode, David Grams presents an essential doctrine of Christianity which dispels any confusion around the challenges of gender identity, same-sex, or bi-sexual attraction. In order to understand how to navigate the difficulty speaking to people of LGBTQ orientation, we need to understand the fallenness of mankind and the potential of redemption for those who put their faith in Christ. What do we say to those who claim to be born gay? We tell them that they need to be born again!
In this episode, David Grams speaks specifically to men, showing from Scripture the purpose of being a husband. He begins be explaining the meaning of Genesis 2, when it says, "It is not good that man should be alone." Marriage is not a man's purpose. But, marriage is supposed to help a man fulfill his God-given purpose, which is to reveal the love of Christ to the world. Sex isn't a need, nor is marriage. Everything aspect of marriage is an opportunity to give, not to be gratified.
Most Christians think that it's sinful/fornication for a couple to have sex before their wedding night. However, marriage can happen long before the wedding ceremony, making "waiting" something unbiblical, rather than biblical. From this episode, as part 2 to the topic of last week's talk, you will find further clarification on the subject of fornication, purity before marriage, and how to navigate the dating and engagement scene with biblical wisdom that doesn't always meet cultural norms. Find freedom from the needless guilt and shame from religious dogma, and discover godly sexuality in a way that will make you proud of your convictions!
When you have a Christian who's in a serious dating relationship that's leaning towards marriage, is it sinful for them to be sexually active with their partner? What does the Bible mean when it says that fornication is a sin? What's fornication anyway? These questions and more are answered in this podcast episode, a teaching from Pastor David Grams about God's plan for marriage and sexuality.

In this episode, David continues to explain why sex in marriage has divine power -- why marriage is what makes sex the best it can be, why sex is sacred, and what God was doing when He designed our sexuality. Just as the seed of the Word of God, by the Holy Spirit, conceived Jesus in the womb of the virgin Mary, so the seed of man sown into his wife's womb is intended to conceive a type of Christ in their marriage, increasing the love of God in them, as Christ shines through them in their own lives and in the lives of their children. Sex is powerful! And finding out why will transform your life!
In this episode, David Grams speaks on the characteristics of conjugal intimacy that truly make a marriage into something that accurately reflects the intimacy we have with God. If the qualities of love in 1 Corinthians 13 and the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5 are demonstrated in intimacy, then the love of God is represented and experienced. Sexual intimacy, in particular, is designed to be a kind of connection that ushers us into a special experience of the Presence of God -- a form of oneness that expresses love in a way that nothing else can. It's truly beautiful, and must be duly esteemed.

A marriage that's holy and undefiled -- without any stain or mark of sin -- is a marriage that will be exhilarating, exciting, and anticipated. Contrarily, expectation, performance-mentality, disappointment...all these are sinful thought-patterns and habits , stemming from selfishness, that poison intimacy in marriages. Here's how you can remove this kind of sin from your marriage and fortify your intimacy with holiness.

In this episode, David Grams defends the biblical principle that we are called to selflessness, especially in our marriages. Lust -- selfishness -- often makes its way into marriages through producing the belief, in us, that sex is a need of ours. To be sexually selfless, we must understand that sex is not a need, and that we should pursue intimacy for the sake of our marriage, not for the sake of our own gratification. We cannot fulfill our call to reflect Christ's love in our marriages, if we're occupied with the lust for our own personal comfort and satisfaction.

Summarizing chapter 14 of Undefiled, David Grams uses the earliest, Genesis description of a sexual encounter to explain why our sexuality was created to be a spiritual transaction more than a physical one. With this in mind, there is the necessity for care, in a marriage, in all respects. And husband and wife should serve one another in spirit, soul, and body, in order for their intimacy to be truly complete.

In this episode, drawing content from chapter 3 of Undefiled, David Grams explains how sexuality, in a marriage, practically reflects the love between Christ and the Church. The oneness between a husband and wife is the only kind of human intimacy that accurately reflects the intimacy between God and the Christian. In this episode, you'll learn how to bring the love of God into your marital intimacy, and what knowing the purpose of sexuality makes sex more exciting and anticipated.
In this episode, reviewing chapter 2 of "Undefiled," David Grams explains why the pleasure of sex outside of marriage is a pitiful counterfeit that's not worth anyone's time. Sex done God's way is the best that there is. Pleasure defines the presence of God, making sex in a godly marriage another taste of God's presence. God intends to lock sex within the boundaries of a covenant of marriage to protect us, not to limit us!
