015 - The Murder of Carmen Broto (Spain) - 14/195
Description
On January 10th, 1949, the body of a 26-year-old woman was discovered in a garden in Barcelona. Shockingly, the body was found partially buried in the ground. The initial crime scene presented numerous questions for the police to investigate. However, as they examined the surroundings, they were surprised to find that a significant amount of evidence was right in front of them. But this would not be the only death they would encounter that night.
With the evidence at hand, the case was relatively straightforward to solve, and the perpetrator was apprehended and placed behind bars. Unfortunately, due to the influence of powerful individuals residing in the city, the culprit received support and managed to secure an early release from jail within a few years. This abuse of power, coupled with the murder of the woman, swiftly propelled the scene into infamy as one of the most scandalous deaths in history.
