#132: Signing day recap; Rebels get big win – 02/08/19
Description
Ole Miss and Mississippi State wrapped up their 2019 football signing classes on Wednesday. While most signees inked back in December, both teams got some big pick-ups this week.
Ole Miss bolstered its defense with players like LeDarrius Cox – a former Tennessee <g class="gr_ gr_26 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="26" data-gr-id="26">commit</g> – and Lakia Henry, who is the country’s No. 1-rated juco inside linebacker (2:00 ). Matt Luke also snagged former Georgia commit John Rhys Plumlee, giving him four scholarship quarterbacks. And the biggest name was Jerrion Ealy, although the five-star running back might decide to play pro baseball instead.
MSU, meanwhile, had a pretty quiet day with no real surprises (11:06 ). The Bulldogs signed eight, including four-star defensive tackle Nathan Pickering.
On the basketball court, MSU lost a tough one in overtime to LSU on Wednesday (16:41 ), despite strong play from Quinndary Weatherspoon and Reggie Perry. Ole Miss broke out of a slump by beating Texas A&M (22:10 ), which certainly boosts the Rebels’ NCAA tournament hopes.
