#138: Not much to learn from spring football games – 04/11/19
Description
As spring football comes to an end, Parrish and Logan say there hasn’t been a whole lot learned about either Ole Miss or Mississippi State.
The Rebels held their annual Grove Bowl last Saturday (5:37 ), but coaches didn’t reveal too much on offense, which is now run by Rich Rodgriguez. Parrish said running back D’Vaughn Pennamon, who’s returning from a knee injury, looked solid, as did quarterback Matt Corral. And the defense, which was one of the worst in the country last season, seems improved.
MSU will hold its spring game this weekend (2:17 ). But like Ole Miss, the Bulldogs probably won’t show too much. In fact, Logan says it could be more of a situational scrimmage. As for what he knows about this team, the defensive line has some big pieces to replace (14:00 ).
On the baseball diamond, MSU’s offense continues to roll along (16:46 ) heading into this weekend’s series against Alabama. One concern is the health of pitcher J.T. Ginn, who will try to throw Saturday.
Ole Miss is also hitting the ball well (21:52 ), and it’s riding the momentum of a sweep of Florida and a mid-week win against Southern Miss.
