132. between the rain (82 Days of Poetry #16)
Description
Join us for a special segment of the 'Every Moment Is Sacred' podcast, where we celebrate the poetry of Leslye Layne Russell. My mother, Leslye Layne, was a poet and true creative spirit. She passed away before publishing her poetry in the way she dreamed of. In the months prior to her death in 2018, I promised to finish this project for her. In this episode, I share a poem of hers and will continue to share her poetry throughout this podcast, at least until we reach 82 poems. Enjoy!
"between the rain" is a sweet poem written for the month of January and the season of winter in Northern California. Here, where I am recording this podcast in Vermont, it can be quite rainy in the summer… and snowy in January’s winter! Celebrating rain everywhere and wishing for this magical blessing, especially on the current fires of Los Angeles, I share this poem with you.
You will also hear about a fun and spontaneous New Year’s story that happened on St. Helena, a landmark in Sonoma County. Connect with us on Facebook and enjoy the spirit of love and creativity that these poems bring. Visit rainelizabeth.org for more.
In what season do you receive the most rain where you are? Spotify listeners can answer through the poll or comment on any episode!
