#66 Slim Down & Avoid Diabetes with Shifts to Your Snacking Part 1 of 2
Description
I used to be a snacker & grazer...all the time. We were told to eat 6 times a day and we have normalized snacking.
Today I 'm sharing with you why I choose to snack less (smaller waistline and avoid diabetes) and the steps I took to reduce my snacking.
Those bites, licks and sips add up. They added inches to my waistline. And behind the scenes they are spiking my blood sugars causing me to be HANGRY, tired and moody!
At first, when it came to STOP SNACKING, I was like a bull in a china shop and thought I had to be perfect and never snack again...so unrealistic.
So I started to notice...when did I have an urge to snack? Was it triggered by a feeling, a habit, a person, an event? Was I tired? Stressed?
From there I began to break it down into manageable steps because snacking has a lot of moving parts!!
This set me up to be more successful and feel better about myself whilst getting healthier and trimming down.
Every time we eat, even healthy food (yes - this was one of my first transition as I wasn't ready to let go of my snacking yet!!), we produce insulin.
A little here and a little there adds up to a lot of insulin.
One goal of health (and to avoid diabetes & belly fat) is to reduce the amount of insulin we are secreting overall, every day.
Reducing my snacking has been a challenging but rewarding journey and I'm not a 100% non-snacker but I'm doing really well - celebrate your wins!!!
