Mike Braun says he supports data centers as part of Indiana’s economic development strategy, but only if they cover their electricity costs and contribute back to the grid. Amazon has opened its long-delayed fulfillment center in Elkhart County, expected to employ about 1,000 people. In Indianapolis, AES Indiana’s proposed 13.5% rate hike has drawn pushback from the City-County Council, which is urging the utility to withdraw the request. Also, the Applied Research Institute has promoted Andrew Kasik to CEO, and Ivy Tech is piloting a partnership with SlateUp to connect students with manufacturing jobs in northern Indiana.
