A large oil drum
Description
Today I saw a picture of a large oil drum which was gradually sinking in the ground. I think of Prophet Elijah who God instructed to visit a widow and her son in Zarephath, outside of Israel (1 Kings 17:7ff). She was suffering from the region's drought and had the last of her flour and olive oil before she knew they would die. Elijah asked her to make him a small loaf of bread and then some for her and her son, with the assurance that from then until the rain returned, her flour and olive oil supplies would not run dry. What a wonderful example of God's perfect provision when we honour and trust Him. This widow complied because she respected God and His prophet Elijah. The picture of the large oil drum reminds us that God provides for us abundantly when we need Him to and, as such, we do not need to worry and save for eventualities.
