Description
An air strike in western Myanmar has killed at least 31 people. Reports say the military bombed a hospital in Rakhine state. At least 70 others have been injured. Rakhine is largely controlled by a rebel group known as the Arakan Army. There has been conflict in Myanmar since the military seized power in a coup in 2021. The junta has often targeted rebel fighters with air strikes that have killed civilians. The military has promised elections starting on December 28th, but rebels have pledged to block it from territory they control. Al Jazeera’s Tony Cheng is in central Myanmar and has more details on the strike.
