Topic Details:
Eating well and exercising may be as effective for treating depression as going to therapy, say researchers. A study conducted at Deakin University in Australia found that a healthy diet and regular exercise seem to do be just as effective as traditional psychotherapy in treating depression. They say the finding could help those who struggle with the idea of seeking mental health help, or may not be able to afford regular therapy sessions.
The next internet buzzword very well could become…“un-alived”. Recently, some visitors to Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture reported seeing something that surprised them. A placard on display in one of its exhibits described an iconic hometown hero’s death in the following way: “Kurt Cobain un-alived himself at 27.” “Unalived” is a common term on TikTok, first used as a way to get around censors on the app when discussing death. But it’s since taken on a euphemistic meaning offline, as a way to talk about death and especially suicide, while attempting to avoid the subject’s inherent discomfort.
