Description

Much like the absolutely horrendous evil killer sun robot at the end of stage 2-1, this game wants to be bigger than the tiny screen it's confined to. A full inventory of this game's design decisions takes about twenty minutes. A technical mastery of the GBA is on display, but as late as it came it - does it matter? Is there room in your life for a forgotten, obsolete, well-crafted retro game? Is there room in your robot heart for love?

In this episode: What is an Astro Boy, every GBA game, person who has only played silksong, unnecessary sidescrolling shooter sections are such a plague of this era, difficulty considerations, sixty-five dollars, what do sensors even do, cult classics, tiny screens and large bosses, the big twist, the Tezuka Star System. Also an extended postpod cuz we do be playing games - as always, a reminder that you can always skip the postpod!

Astro Boy Walkthrough by DEngle (spoilers for Astro Boy) in the game, when you have to play all the stages again, this guide just copies and pastes the sections for the bosses from the first playthrough into the second playthrough! (This fact is what Feather was referring to when she says "ok, put a pin in this walkthrough, we'll get back to it" and then entirely forgets to ever get back to it. She's getting back to it right now, in this episode description. It's her writing this. She's still not sure what pronouns to use for episode descriptions. Like, typically, they're "we". "We talk Astro Boy!" but this digression isn't a group consensus it's just her taking over the episode description for her own evil ends. Except not maybe that evil, more like... morally wasteful? It's not like anyone reads these anyways. If you read this post "hello karp" in the astro boy thread. ok bye)
