Description

Pentiment's existience feels like a miracle. It's a game that has the deep, super-niche obsession to a specific detail, created by an established double A studio with the backing of Microsoft. A game that wants, more than anything else, to be a portrait of a time. A desire to show an art form (illuminated manuscript) not as the flat, tattered, and dated museum piece but as representative of a living, chaning era.

There's also a mystery! A good one! With some fantastic decisions, both major and minor. Not many games outside of the dating sim space can make you obsess over who you're going to eat lunch with. And the music is good!

Oh also it might be just a little bit tiny tiny tad bit just a little bit... uh... boring. Yeah. (Only feather thinks this and she's uncultured garbage though)

In this episode: on trial, a game of its time (2022), being exceptionally European, Obsidian Entertainment, typos and corrections, I majored in Hedonism in college, on being a good person, relationships to authority, pushback, arcs, pottage, peasantmaxxing, no right answers.
