Description

After the 2016 referendum, there were worries in the British arts sector that long-standing collaborations with European institutions would suddenly end and valuable objects would be left stranded at ports as a result of lengthy customs procedures. Have those fears been borne out?

Our host for this episode, the Times’ Arts correspondent David Sanderson, will look at cooperation between the British and European art scene with the Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tristram Hunt, the widely-acclaimed former chief of the Whitechapel Gallery, Iwona Blazwick, Alistair Brown from the Museums Association and Freya Simms, head of the Association of Art and Antiques Dealers. Our guests will talk us through the challenges of importing artworks from Europe, the difficulties in finding qualified staff as well as the opportunities of reaching out to third countries.
