Description

This episode of London Calling EU focuses on the power of languages. In this episode we get a flavour of the languages showcase held at Smith Square Hall in the heart of Westminster and also from a discussion panel, convened in partnership with the Centre of European Reform (CER), that debated the interconnectedness of languages and the world of diplomacy.

Exploring this soft power of languages, we hear from Alison Graves, Director of the Interpretation DG of the European Parliament, Bernardette Holmes, Chair of the UK National Consortium for Languages Education and Dominic Schroeder, former UK Ambassador and now Principal of the FCDO International Academy. Introduced by Ambassador Serrano and chaired by CER’s Deputy Director Ian Bond – we hope you enjoy!
