Compensation & Job Happiness
Description
I was reading a report on job happiness put out by the Indeed Hiring Lab (indeed.com). In the report, Indeed ranked the world for employee satisfaction. One of their findings I found interesting was that employees, when reporting on their job satisfaction, ranked compensation last from a list of measures. One reason I found this so interesting is because compensation has such a huge influence when it comes to individuals choosing a career or accepting a job. I believe this is largely due to all of the facades we are exposed to on a daily basis. We look on social media, and it appears like everyone is prosperous.
When what’s important is put first, everything else falls into place.

The majority of society puts up a front of prosperity, but when someone takes a peek behind the front, a reality of fear and desperation is revealed. Putting up a front only hurts us, but when we put the important things first, we will be honest. Trying to impress and hold up a false persona leads to disappointment and disillusionment.
We should look to add value over making money. When we make purpose a priority, we are looking to add value. When we make money a priority, we are looking to receive value. What we put in, we get out. When we add value, we will receive compensation. When what’s important is put first, everything else falls into place.
