US History

Tenth grade U.S. History is an overview of how the United States developed from a country traumatized by the Civil War to the global superpower that it is today. The course first begins with the causes and effects of the Civil War. By using a variety of sources and methods throughout much of the second semester, the class will analyze the evolution of the United StatesÕ industrial and economic power, and how this affected future political, economic, and social decisions. All efforts will be made to teach tenth grade students to think more critically as well as provide them with skills that will enable them to move on to the next level. Writing, document analysis, and historical thinking are strongly emphasized.
