The emerging literacy period is from birth to early preschool. Experiences with talking and listening gained during this preschool period prepare children to learn to read and write during the early elementary school years. In this podcast, I highlight the stages of literacy development, how spoken language and literacy are connected, recognizing some early warning signs, and what early intervention activities you can do to support phonological and literacy skills.
