Episode 014 - Can't or Won't?
Description
If you’re anything like me (and the rest of society for that matter) some days are usually better than others on your quest for ‘Personal Greatness’!
Making changes internally is crucial if you want to see changes externally, and that’s why so many of us make commitments to ourselves to start new ventures or habits, in the hope we can achieve an improved quality of life.
Now when you first get started, you’ve obviously got a large dose of motivation on your side, which can be either positively or negatively charged. Maybe you’re sick of XYZ and so you’re got to take action to change things, or maybe you absolutely love the idea of achieving ABC, and that’s what drives you to take decisive action.
The trouble is, that on a day to day basis, and once the ‘honeymoon period’ is over, we can find ourselves ‘not being arsed’ or feeling in a low state, aka Apathy.
It’s at points like this that you need a tool to keep you moving in the right direction, and asking yourself if you ‘Can’t or Won’t’ can be just what is needed.
This method is based on the works of Dr David Hawkins, author of a multitude of best-selling books, including ‘Power vs Force: The hidden determinants of behaviour’ and ‘Letting Go: The Path of Surrender.”
If you are not familiar with the late, great Hawkins, you can find out about is ‘Map of Consciousness’ here: https://veritaspub.com/product/map-of-consciousness-dr-david-hawkins/
The aim is to get ourselves from a state of Apathy to a state of Courage and beyond as quickly and as efficiently as possible, so that even in the absence of those initial high levels of motivation, we are still able to engage in the behaviour necessary to keep us on the path of positive change.
Once you realise that ‘can’t’ makes you a helpless victim, and that ‘won’t’ means that you are capable of choosing your behaviour, very quickly you progress upwards through the states of consciousness / awareness until you reach one that ‘kicks in’ and drives you to take the required action.
It’s powerful! Check it out!
