Description

greifThere is a good chance that if you listen to this podcast, you might be involved in participating or organizing events. Many higher education related events have a plethora of content that is presented, particularly if it is an academic conference or some sort of multi-day symposium. There are many public relations opportunities around such events, a topic that we delve into on episode 50 of FIR on Higher Education.

Our guest is James Greif, Director of Communications at the American Association of Law Schools (AALS). The AALS’ 179 member law schools enroll most of the nation’s law students and produce the majority of the country’s lawyers and judges, as well as many of its lawmakers. The AALS recently organized its 110th annual meeting. Thousands of law school professors and guests descended upon New York City for the five-day event, which featured Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer as a keynote speaker. We caught up with Greif during the event to get his insights on topics such as:

– Leveraging social media during events

– Leveraging media opportunities around events

– Crisis communication

– Post conference communications

– Communications on a limited budget
