Google appoints Amin Vahdat as new AI infrastructure chief, highlighting the fields importance with a ninety-three billion dollar investment. Vahdat, a computer scientist with a PhD from UC Berkeley, has been instrumental in building Googles AI backbone for fifteen years. He unveiled the seventh-generation TPU, Ironwood, with impressive specifications, and has been developing custom TPU chips and overseeing Googles super-fast internal network, Jupiter. Vahdat has also been involved in the development of Borg and Axion, Googles custom Arm-based CPUs.
