How Acting Taught Me About Metabolic Health
Description
EPISODE #64If you’re a Mom, you may be aware of the concept of “Mom fails,” which is just a part of the job. We learn from them and move on. In general, I believe that learning from “fails” is a super important part of being an evolving human. In today’s episode #64 — audio only, I’m drawing a parallel between making metabolic health improvements and a very challenging project I took on eight months ago. Specifically, I’m offering seven lessons learned from “acting fails” after a return to acting stage after a 33-year hiatus. In May of 2024 I auditioned for a significant role in a four-person play and was cast! We just wrapped three weeks of performances of The Last of the Red Hot Lovers on Sunday and it was a HECK of an experience, complete with hard work, laughter, tears, deer in headlights fear and more. Sure, I’d been on stage hundreds of time as a dancer, but the part where you’re delivering lines in real time to a live audience (which may laugh at different sections each night or not at all), is a leveled up experience!
My hope is that if you have specific behavioral or outcome changes on which you’d like to focus to improve your metabolic and overall health, that my recent lessons learned will help frame this process for you. In other words, this is also a list of what I wish I’d known, but the discovery — and those actor fails, was part of what made the process so very rewarding. That and an incredible cast, director and theater team who were all so patient and mentored me.Give it a listen and let me know what you think! Also, if you’d like to engage in a 15-minute complimentary consult to ask me questions and/or find out if we’re a fit to work together to help you along your metabolic health journey, simply reach out.Be nourished y’all! And don’t be a stranger. I love hearing from listeners — send your questions, comments and show ideas. Santé.PS - going forward my solocasts will be audio only and I’ll use video when I ‘m conducting an interview. On that note, February’s episode #65 will be a videocast as I have a guest I’m super excited about.SUBSCRIBER CONTENTSubscribers receive an email the moment the show is live and in addition to show notes and links, it includes my Fine Recipe, Fine Find and Fine Read each month.
