Description

In this episode, I talk about how to focus on what matters when opening your own business and how to avoid majoring in minor details.

It's safe to say we all struggle with focus from time to time.  Whether in school or in the initial stages of opening your own business, there is always a lot to do.  There will always be something else on the "to-do" list, and figuring out how to use your time is one of the most valuable skills you can learn.

When opening your business, focusing on what matters will determine if you succeed or fail.

The problem many new business owners need help with is prioritizing their work.  All too often, business owners focus on "task" related items like ordering equipment, determining what colors should be in the logo, and picking out which dumbbells to buy.  Yes, you need to decide on these task items, but they are not what will drive your business forward.

Focusing on client acquisition strategy, target client development, creating a core offer, and client retention will significantly impact your business, and prioritizing these higher-level thinking tasks takes time and effort.

In this episode, I'll talk through how to set the proper focus and priorities, the strategies I use to stay focused, and the mindset needed in the early stages of business to drive success.

Focusing on the right priorities is a learned skill that takes practice.  I've benefitted from mentors who've "been there – done that" and can direct my focus on what truly matters.
