How to Save a Life (feat. Ally J)
Description
Welcome back to another episode of Strong Friend Check In!
This week’s episode comes with a warning because the contents are pretty heavy. If this episode might be difficult for you, feel free to check out past episodes.

I’m joined by our Resident Therapist Ally J as we discuss suic*de/suic*dal ideation. With the recent losses of young, Black stars dying by suic*de (Ian Alexander Jr. and Chelsie Kryst) the conversation is hitting closer to home. Ally and I dive into a few different topics including:
- The biggest misconceptions about suic*de?
- Is suic*dal ideation a result of a chemical imbalance or environmental stressors?
- Are there a way to “tell” if a loved one may be experiencing suic*dal thoughts? What are the ways/reasons signs might go unseen?
- What ways can we support our loved ones? How can someone get the help they need? (Especially lower-income folks)
