This episode of the Fit Life Podcast talks about the How, Why, Where, and When of training to successfully compete an obstacle course race. We talk a lot about Spartan Race, where the majority of my experience has been applied, Tough Mudder and fun elements they bring to OCR, and of course my own race, the Ultimate Fitness Run in Spokane, Wa on Mount Spokane. A unique element these races provide for the participants are the multitude of demands they will require the racer to overcome. You need to have endurance, strength and decent amount of athleticism to get through these courses. This is a big part why they are becoming so popular, the reward you feel when you finish will create a craving you will be sure to come back for next year! Many people just sign up and show up and after a butt whooping they get inspired to figure out how to do better on the next one.
