Husky Talk- Stephanie Schindel
Description
Husky Talk is back with a spectacular guest, former UConn Volleyball Star Stephanie Schindel. She was nice enough to give us her time and we had a fun episode.
Husky Talk is sponsored by Procyon Partners. They are a boutique full service Financial firm that offers consulting for executives and businesses. Go to their website at www.procyonpartners.org
Stephanie was an absolute joy to interview. Her journey to UConn is truly unique. She was always a talented athlete and knew early on she wanted to play Volleyball at a high level. All the way from California, she was recruited by UConn and her visit was why she decided to become a Husky. The closeness of the team and family atmosphere won her over.
Steph dealt with injuries and there was turmoil behind the scenes that caused at coaching change. Stephanie met with Patty Babcock and got a release to transfer but did not want to leave behind her teammates who she grew to love.
At 5'10, she considered herself short for Volleyball but once healthy, she became a force to be reckoned with. Her play picked up steam in 1999 and 2000, she regrets the team didn't build on the success of the 1998 season when they won the Big East.
Steph is beautiful, brilliant, hardworking and is not afraid to overcome adversity. After UConn, she spent several years working with special needs kids and made a difference in their lives. It took a toll on her emotionally and she wanted to change careers.
Ryan Brown, who we had on the show a week ago, helped Stephanie get started in the Finance world and she has not looked back becoming very successful on her own.
October 5th the Volleyball team is being honored for their 1998 Big East Championship. We are planning a live Husky Talk at the UConn vs Temple game and then will go back to campus to hang out with the girls. I will put together a day and night of fun. As Steve Darby said, its time to get the band back together.
Also, we have to thank Green Street Trust international, run by former UConn Football force Ronel Jumpp, they offer many services as well and are looking to help nonprofit organizations with tax breaks, Ronel will take care of anything needed. Go to greenstreettrust.com and reach out.
Lastly, we need to help Mike Burton raise NIL money so we can join the Big 12 and be dominant. He doesn't need big money, if we all can give $200 to $500 dollars, we can show the power of the UConn alumni network. I want to continue doing Husky Talk and prove our value. We are giving alumni a voice and raising money at the same time. Bleedingblueforgood.org is the site, donate to whatever sport you want, but lets all do it together. Mike has given more than anyone to UConn, and I am here for him, because he is NOT alone. Stephanie, I hope to meet you on the 5th and the time is NOW.
