Khiara went to Maui on vacation. She was staying at a hotel in Kihei. She rented a car on July 21, 2019, a Friday, for one day to visit Waiʻānapanapa State Park. Her rental car was noticed in a gravel parking lot at the park on July 23 and was called in as abandoned on July 25 .

Her luggage, credit card, and identification were inside, but her car key, cell phone, and a small backpack were missing and have never been located. Her case still to this day remains unsolved.
