Mid-Day Prayer
Led by Fr. Michael Thorne Jarrett

Psalm 46

Psalm 65

Psalm 146

OfficiantO God, make speed to save us.
AllO Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The following Psalms are read

Psalm 46

1  God is our refuge and strength, *

an ever-present help in trouble.

2  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved, *

though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea,

3  though its waters roar and foam, *

though the mountains tremble at its surging.

4  There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, *

the holy habitation of the Most High.

5  God is in the midst of her; she will not be moved; *

God will help her when morning dawns.

6  The nations rage, the kingdoms fall; *

he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7  The LORD of hosts is with us; *

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8  Come, behold the works of the LORD, *

what desolations he has brought on the earth.

9  He makes wars to cease throughout the earth; *

he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,

and burns the chariots with fire.

10  “Be still, and know that I am God; *

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth.”

11  The LORD of hosts is with us; *

the God of Jacob is our fortress. †

Psalm 65

1  Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion, *

and to you shall vows be performed.

2  O you who hear our prayer, *

to you all flesh shall come.

3  When iniquities prevail against me, *

you forgive our transgressions.

4  Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, *

to dwell in your courts.

4  We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, *

your holy temple.

5  By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, *

O God of our salvation,

5  the hope of all the ends of the earth *

and of the farthest seas;

6  who formed the mountains by his power, *

and is girded about with might;

7  who stills the raging of the seas, *

the roaring of their waves,

the tumult of the peoples.

8  Those who dwell at the ends of the earth

shall be in fear at your signs; *

you cause the morning and the evening to rejoice.

9  You visit the earth and water it; *

you greatly enrich it;

9  the river of God is full of water;

you prepare the grain, *

for so you provide for the earth.

10  You water its furrows abundantly, *

you settle its ridges,

10  softening it with showers, *

and blessing its growth.

11  You crown the year with your bounty; *

your paths overflow with abundance.

12  The pastures of the wilderness overflow, *

and the hills are girded with gladness,

13  the meadows are clothed with flocks,

the valleys are covered with grain, *

they shout and sing together for joy. †

Psalm 146

1  Praise the LORD. *

Praise the LORD, O my soul.

2  I will praise the LORD as long as I live; *

I will sing praise to my God while I have any being.

3  Put not your trust in princes, *

nor in any son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

4  When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; *

on that very day his plans shall perish.

5  Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, *

whose hope is in the LORD his God,

6  the maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; *

who keeps faith forever;

7  who executes justice for the oppressed, *

who gives food to the hungry.

8  The LORD sets the prisoners free; *

the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.

8  The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; *

the LORD loves the righteous.

9  The LORD watches over the foreigner; *

he sustains the widow and the fatherless,

but the way of the wicked he will utterly remove.

10  The LORD will reign forever,
