Vera shares the shocking story of what led to the divorce in her first marriage, some mother in law drama & why she ditched nursing school for blogging. Vera is a trend setter and ahead of her time when it comes to creativity and content creation. She shared about her love for writing, how she ditched nursing to follow a different career path, how she got started with blogging & creating the Verastic blog which she has maintained for many years now. Even though her parents wanted her to study medicine in keeping with the family trend, she went ahead to pivot in her career and in discovering her creativity.Vera also unpacks a personal story of determination, pursuit of purpose and the bravery/courage to walk away from a toxic & dysfunctional marital dynamic that didn't align with her values. From battling a difficult mother in law, to an ex husband who put his political career and ambitions above his family's safety, Vera laid it all bare in this episode. She talked about how disparities in class, religion, ethnicity, socio economic situations can negatively impact marriages as she considered it one of the reasons her first marriage failed. She also shared how the African culture has an uncanny way of silencing women and keeping them in unhappy marriages.
