Kevin LaRose loves his job as the third shift campus safety officer at Interlochen Center for the Arts. It's peaceful, he says, and it gives him lots of time to practice his many, many musical instruments. For the last year, he has recorded a video series called "Thursday 3 a.m. Jams," where he plays a different musical instrument in a different location on the Interlochen campus during his nightly rounds. Watch the series here . LaRose recently joined Classical IPR for Notes from Home, and he played two instruments from his menagerie. He performed Øystein Baadsvik's "Ordner Seg (It'll Be Alright)" with Gramps the sousaphone and a recorded piano accompaniment featuring his friend Mi-Young Kim. Then, with a ukulele and his distinctive singing voice, LaRose performed a unique cover of Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues." Listen to the entire performance and conversation below.
