Pharma Giants Lower Drug Prices in US
Update: 2025-12-19
Description
Major pharmaceutical companies, including Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Novartis, have agreed to lower drug prices in the U.S. following President Trumps push for a policy linking American drug prices to lower costs in other countries. Fourteen out of seventeen drugmakers have signed on to the new agreements, with Johnson and Johnson expected to join next week. These companies will sell existing treatments to Medicaid patients at the lowest price and list their most popular drugs on a new direct-to-consumer website called TrumpRx. This move aims to address the high cost of medications for American consumers, as prescription drug prices in the U.S. are, on average, nearly three times higher than in other countries.
