Description

Professor James Moore of Imperial College London is developing an implant called Faciliflow to treat breast cancer-associated lymphedema. This condition occurs as a result of the removal of lymph nodes during breast cancer surgery, and can cause chronic, painful swelling of the arm for the rest of the patient's life. One of the key advantages of this approach is that it can be implemented at the time of the original surgery, which means that patients can potentially avoid the debilitating effects of lymphedema altogether. This innovative implant has the potential to greatly improve the quality of life for breast cancer survivors.
