Jeff Spencer discusses how RPOs ("rental purchase options") are a great way for contractors to acquire the equipment they need while still maintaing flexibility. These agreements allow you to apply rental payments to the purchase of equipment - thus, you still have the ability to turn the equipment in if it is not needed, but still purchase it if so desired. Some equipment companies will even give you 100% of your payments toward purchase, or it may be less than your full payments. Jeff also talks about the importance of having a good relationship with your equipment companies.
