Hello and welcome to Parking Thought. I'm Jacob and I'm glad you're here today. I want to talk today a little bit about an insight.
A friend of mine and I have been engaged in kind of a really healthy set of gospel conversations and it's been awesome. And so we'll come up with different insights, something we've read, something we felt inspired by and we'll be able to engage one another in that. And I think everybody ought to have a friend or two that they could do that with.
Some also great news on our end. We bought a house in Arkansas so we're going to be moving out of the Idaho area. So if you're looking for a house in the Boise, Idaho area, please feel free to consider the one we have up for sale. We are looking forward to the move. There's lots of good things involved in a move. You end up cleaning out a lot of the clutter that you didn't know was in your house. You just kind of got used to it and you lived by it and you stood by it. And it's interesting when you do those deep cleans, you find things that you need to address.
And the same thing's true of the repentance process, right? When you engage in those situations where you actually pause and think deeply about what it is you're doing and the opportunities you have in front of you, you can choose when you do it properly to make a commitment to be just a little bit better. And that's a good thing to have. But my friend Todd and I, so every once in a while we all exchange back and forth. And one of the things that we came up with a while ago was asking ourselves, instead of asking ourselves the question of what would Jesus do in a particular situation, we started asking ourselves the question, how would Jesus feel in this particular situation? And because we were focused on how he would feel, we found that it was much easier to do the things that he would want us to do.
And so I'd love to bring that to your attention today, short episode that it is, to ask and suggest that when you are going through situations in life that need some evaluation, that need some rethinking, or whatever it happens to be, that maybe when you're doing that, you think about how would Jesus feel about the way you were using your thoughts or your actions or something else to be able to make a difference in your attitude and your approach to a similar situation that's likely to come up again in the future.
The things that matter most we get tested on a lot in life. We get tested a lot in life on being charitable to others, on being kind to others, on being good friends. Those are the lessons, those are the tests that we get throughout our life, regardless of our occupation. That's not the final on a test to graduate from whatever school that you're in. It is about the way we treat others, the way we treat ourselves. And so I hope you could be compassionate with yourself. If you really are going to apply the question of how would Jesus feel, then I would definitely recommend applying that to yourself in a way that helps you show a little more love and kindness to who you are, to the choices that you are making, and to the opportunity to do better, and the encouragement that you have to make the next best step in your life.
