Description

The San Diego City Council approved a $30 million settlement for the family of a 16-year-old boy, Kanoa Wilson, who was shot and killed by a police officer in a downtown train station. The lawsuit alleges that Officer Daniel Gold fired two shots at Wilson without warning as he ran past, hitting him in the upper body. The family, who identified Wilson as Black, expressed deep sorrow and questioned the progress made since George Floyds killing, asking about accountability and the polices role to protect and serve. Officer Gold is currently on administrative assignment while the shooting remains under investigation.
