Description
Sawubona is Zulu it means "I see you, you are important to me and I value you”. It is so amusing to me the influence words make when read out loud. Welcome to Season 2 of the Universal Afrikans Healing Circle podcast. This episode we continue reading The Spirit of Intimacy, Ancient African Teachings in the Ways of Relationships by Sobonfu Somé, reading chapters 2 & 3. In discussing a Song of Spirit and The Embrace of Community we are given many gems to implement in our lives that will aid us in healing ourselves, tradition and our communities. Even using our mother tongues (mine is Tswana/Sesotho) helps the healing process. The significance between Sawubona and just saying hello. I have elders that, that’s the only way I greet them and when I say it, it brings me a deeper sense of connection, connection to my elders, connection to my ancestors, connection to spirit, and connection to community. I would love to read in the comments ways you’ll work towards healing yourselves and in turn reviving your communities or building community and reconnecting with spirit.
