Serial S01 - Ep. 10: The Best Defense is a Good Defense
Description
Adnan’s trial lawyer was M. Cristina Gutierrez, a renowned defense attorney in Maryland – tough and savvy and smart. Other lawyers said she was exactly the kind of person you’d want defending you on a first-degree murder charge. But Adnan was convicted, and a year later, Gutierrez was disbarred. What happened?

This series is reminding me of the Chamberlain case in Australia. There are still people who'd say Lindy was guilty, even if God himself told them they were wrong. Can't stand people making jokes or flippant remarks about real people when it's a real life at stake. Poor Hae Min Lee. Why on earth was she killed? That story seems buried with her. Its also blindingly obvious Adnan shouldn't be in jail. How can a man actually be in jail for life on such flimsy, crocked up evidence???
I truly believe that there is so much reasonable doubt, the motive make no sense, and the police relied too heavily on one person. It's very sad. And all of her cases at the end should have been reviewed!
Sounds like the lawyer had a substance abuse problem. She even sounds high in some of the recordings. Just my opinion.
Im just saying... In I believe episode 6 Adnon said "If Hae would have fought back." Sounding like he was completely admitting to doing it. I hate to say it but, I believe he is guilty.
how can they take into account that he was "so religous" to the point where he murders Hae for being "dishonoured" yet don't take into account the fact that he was dating outside of his religion among other things his parents would be disappointed by. that just doesn't make sense to me. if he was so religous he wouldn't have been dating her in the first place. Hello?
hearing his guidance counselor read about his accomplishments already at his age breaks my heart if he is not guilty, which I don't think he is. think of what he could have given to society over the years as an engineer or the like, instead of what his life has been.
the lawyer is very annoying to listen to. I would be annoyed with the defense as a juror.
The lawyers voice is like stretched out barbed wire. Imagine having to listen to that every day in court. I bet at least one juror found him guilty because her voice annoyed them so much.
Are you serious? You think he is not being discriminated against by the system, really? They sentenced him cause he was being a bad Muslim.... Dating , drinking, sex, that is what every teenager does. He is a brown kid & a Muslim obviously they do not care. The darker your skin the more they are prejudice. How come Dan gets to go scottfree? Jay sounds absolutely dodgy, he seems to be spinning a web of lies, why was he never called out?
Are you even serious? You believe he was not discriminated against, really?
lamest episode
Christina sounds so much like Ron Swanson's ex wife!
OMG how annoying is his lawyer.....her voice just drones on and on. She sounds like she has no idea what she's doing!

Being a Pakistani Muslim, it really struck me how people think that in Islam it is permissible to kill a woman if it comes to honor. That is so not true. It is haram (prohibited) in Islam.
