The Music Journal Podcast is a show that documents trending musical events and topics as they happen. Our host, Wes Yee is a music producer and artist, himself. I swear Freeloader MC is my brother who got separated at birth.

Both of us are Asian American rapper and producers on opposite coasts of the country. 

I first heard of Freeloader MC when he made his diss track at Lil Pump, which went completely viral. Lil Pump released a song recently called "Butterfly Doors," where he has a line that says "Call me Yao Ming cause my eye's real low (Ching Chong)."

Freeloader's fans were sending him this video and it inspired him to make a diss track about it. Freeloader clocked just about 4.5 million views on his video, and I created one too. 

Some of the people who heard mine told me I should reach out to Freeloader MC, and the rest is history.

In today's episode we talk about the viral video he had and also some of the inspiration behind it. It's a common misconception that when someone makes a diss track, the person who made it is genuinely offended by the person they target, but this isn't always true.

Freeloader saw an opportunity to support our people and culture, while getting his name out there at the same time and there is nothing wrong with that.
