Thai-Cambodian border clashes force thousands of Cambodians to flee unsafe evacuation camps again
Update: 2025-12-10
Description
Heavy attacks from across the Thai border are forcing Cambodians to flee repeatedly, even from areas with bunkers. More than 10,000 people are now in temporary camps, where shortages of food, water and essentials are widespread. Safety fears are growing as explosions and smoke prompt mass movements and constant readiness to escape. Clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces have intensified, worsening a decades-long border dispute. Local authorities say evacuations are increasingly difficult as even designated camps are no longer safe. Families have been uprooted multiple times this year, unable to work or send children to school. Frustration is mounting among thousands forced to flee Cambodian villages, with no ceasefire in sight.
