Description

Tune in for an intuitively prompted (and then moderately researched and clinically curated) discussion on the physiology of Compassion. Understand what compassion is and what it is not through socio-cultural, clinical, and even case by case anecdotal perspectives (think sweet “deer raises wolf pup” stories). Learn about the biology of love and compassion, the psychosocial problem with romanticized type casting of love, the effects of oxytocin, and the practice of eliciting this powerful hormone for yourself in the embodied practice of self-compassion. We explore intention setting, yoga poses, crystals, mantras, Breathwork, and even highly specific questions and reflections to ask ourselves for the more analytical minded. We also touch on a very brief introduction to Internal Family Systems and the practice of mindfulness through self awareness, and learn why it is so important to our physical, emotional and mental health to practice Self Compassion and observation. Books mentioned in this episode include “Anatomy of the Spirit” and “Energy Anatomy: The Science of Personal Power, Spirituality, and Health” by Caroline Myss, as well as “Whatever Arises, Love That” by Matt Kahn. If you are suffering with any feelings of overwhelm, despair, or anxiety, remember - this is all part of our perfectly imperfect human condition and you are not alone. To alleviate pain and suffering within and around us, we can raise the vibration beginning with ourselves through the practice of active self compassion. Creating a revolution that starts right at home, with you.
