Publisher's Summary:
In this heartfelt, beautifully written novel, a woman with nothing left to lose finds the courage to start over in the last place she ever expected
Newly divorced Maggie Carter has little to show for her marriage except a pile of boxes and regrets. So when she learns she's inherited an old house and an abandoned gold mine in Eureka, Colorado, she doesn't hesitate to leave Houston behind. In Colorado, she can learn about her estranged father and take stock of her life. After all, where better to decide what your next move should be than in a cabin 10,000 feet above sea level?
Eureka is a tiny hamlet with a caf, a library, and plenty of intriguing locals. There's the colorful town mayor, Lucille, and her prodigal daughter Olivia, bitter librarian Cassie, and handsome, enigmatic Jameso Clark, who had a fascinating love-hate relationship with Maggie's father. Then there are the soaring views of distant mountains and clear blue sky, of aspen trees and endless stars. Piece by piece, Maggie is uncovering her father's past - and reconciling with her own. And in this small mountain town, she just might find a place where she truly belongs.

Picturesque and entertaining.
Great writing. Puts a different spin on the broken family kind of story. A very different kind of book for me but very rewarding. Picturesque scenery easy to imagine due to exquisite literary descriptions. A good ending for the woman who could have had man-hater syndrome caused by her past.
Mountain High
The View From Here is about a woman named Maggie who has just gone through a divorce and is wondering how to start over. When she discovers that she has inherited a cabin and a gold mine in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, from a deceased father she never knew, she leaves Houston for the small mining town of Eureka. There she meets Jameso, her father's closest friend, and finds the townsfolk welcoming and supportive. The novel is folksy and charming but rather predictable. Written quite simply, it is about developing personal strength and the confidence to move forward in one's life. Sometimes a drastic change of scenery is necessary to see things more clearly in life, and the perspective from The View From Here is just what Maggie needed to let go of her past and empower her to embrace the future.
Good Read! I highly recommend this book.
Imagine that you have never met your dad and then he leaves his entire estate to you.
You have just gone through a messy divorce and are in the initial stages of recovery.
You move to a small town in Colorado and the"gold" mine that your father left you.
You make new friends and make a place for yourself.
This is the world that the author takes you to.
Totally engaging characters and a fascinating story of a down-to-earth dynamics in a high mountain Colorado town
I'm a tough customer when it comes to stories about the Colorado Rockies, my beloved home for 20 years, and this new book by Cindy Myers sets a new high standard. The setting is a small mining town high in the Colorado Rockies, filled with characters who define themselves through their appearances, revealed histories, and interactions. Some predictable, some quirky, and all the result of real souls living out their hopes and fears in a small hardscrabble town where each person's survival depends on everyone else when catastrophe strikes.
