The story of Amarnath
Description
In this segment, host Sowjanya tells the story of one the most important pilgrimage sites in India - Amarnath.
Amarnath, nestled in the Himalayas, is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus in northern India. Revered for the naturally formed ice lingam, a symbol of Lord Shiva, devotees embark on a challenging trek to reach this sacred shrine during the annual Amarnath Yatra. This pilgrimage, held during July and August, witnesses thousands of devotees undertaking a strenuous trek through rugged terrain and snow-capped mountains, reflecting profound devotion and spiritual fervour. The journey, starting from Pahalgam or Baltal, encompasses serene landscapes, high altitudes, and a spiritual aura, making it a revered journey for seekers of divine blessings and religious fulfilment.
